New Forum Confusion

Thread Starter

Hello.

I am confused.  How do I access the UserCP area where I see all the new posts that I am subscribed to?

I am having a hard time finding it.

Click on the "Home" tab at the top left of the page, you subs will be listed there

I have had some trouble in a few areas myself, how do you edit titles of posts?  I am not seeing the 'go advanced' tab anywhere.  Am I missing it?

As stated in this thread, user-editing of thread titles is not allowed, but Jude has put in a request for this to change.

On the same note, can somebody tell me where the buttons for "go to first unread post" have gone? In the new usercp in can only see "first post" and "last post". If that function is gone that would be very inconvenient.

Many thanks in advance.

Somehow don't find the new look as engaging as the old - could just

be that I need some time..

Michgelsen: Go to the front page of Head-fi, and click on "Subscribed threads only".  When you click on a thread, it will take you to the first unread post.  If you haven't read the thread since the old forum, it will be reset unfortunately, but will remember afterwards.

Ah yes thanks! I see it works automatically now.

On a similarly similar note and to prevent the creation of a new thread, I can't seem to figure out how to edit my signature... I've looked all through the "My Profile" tab. Anyone know where it is?

The advanced search options suck now. And my subscriptions are all over the shop... Don't understand what's happened at all with them. Very unengaging layout. Think it's the column on the right. And now unviewable from my iPod, and Blackberry.

Where is the box we used to have at the top with the latest sponsor threads? Like competitions and releases and stuff?

Change is okay, but this is bad change unfortunately.

Site looks much fresher, but at a big cost I think. Usability has plummeted!

:(

EDIT: Why does the forum search not default to organising results by descending last post date like it used to? When searching in the for sale forums especially, relevancy as default is usless IMHO?

I'm not a fan of the new fonts and layout. It feels too plastic and seems hard to navigate. I think it will work for children, but for the people who have been here for a while - it looks too simple and polished.

I agree with the criticisms about usability. For example:

- When searching for a particular topic, the results aren't fetched back in descending order like b4 so you have to go and waste extra time setting up a specialised search.

- When trying to edit some posts I'm finding that that the edit mode doesn't always engage properly (i.e. the edit box comes up but I can't go ahead and actually edit it).

Such things can be fixed in time although it shows the new software was rush-released. The bigger annoyance for me is that I find the new layout and big fonts waste too much screen space.

I will say I like the fact that I don't have to sign in all the time.  Other than that, I'm not 100% sold but I'll give it more time.
