I am considering either these or the k702's, because of the cable so I have a question if you can help.  Is it more difficult or expensive to replace a mangled cable on the 701's?  I have dogs and although I am very carefull I really don't want to spend too much if I have to replace a cable.  Also, if for some reason in the future I decide to sell a kidney and go to a balanced set-up, will it be easier or less expensive to upgrade the 702's vs the 701's?

I would say the detachable cable on the K702's is better for your mangled cable issues, as you can just buy the replacement for ~$20 IIRC.

But if you decide to sell that kidney, the K701 is by far easier to balance. I've done the mods necessary to balance the K702, but it's not easy. If you want the best of both worlds, you could try the mod I did, where I modded my K702s to be balanced AND detachable. It's in my signature if you're interested.

I believe the difference between the Premium and the Pro is the build quality. The Premium uses higher quality parts. The design of the headband is also different. I believe the drivers are the same, but the housing, cups, and band are more luxurious. I have the DT770 Pro, and the build quality lacks in comparison to the my Premium DT880.
