Big Platform Upgrades Coming to Head-Fi Very Soon! - Page 2

Exiting news! I look forward to navigating through the new Head-Fi. Thanks Jude for all the time and effort you've put into making this one of the best communities on the Internet. I hope the new format allows you more time to enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Sounds interesting. The new layout looks pretty different from what I'm used to, but that's just a small thing. Some of the changes sound like could really change the head-fi experience for the better.

Good luck and I hope everything goes well!

Thats pretty exciting Jude! I hope everything goes well with the transition. A big thanks to you and all the moderators for all the hard work!

Looking good! Can't wait to try and test it out.

now, would this be a good time to clean up and remove/merge some stickies?

Good news, i hope we can choose a "darker" design.

Congrats on the changes Jude!

You, the mod team, and the community have built a wonderful home for our hobby ...
... and a great door way for the rest of the world to discover the joys of headphones.

THANKS!!!

I'm excited to hear about the product section. You and I have talked about that feature (or something like it) for years. I'm so happy to see that it will come about. You and I have talked recently about the headphone and headphone amp measurement database I'm developing, and providing Head-Fi with the ability to project that data in the product area. I continue to be committed to providing objective measurements as a service both by and for the community here on Head-Fi.

I look forward to you MOT rules changes. Having live within them for a long time, I've found myself frustrated on occasion. It's a fairly tricky thing to dial in correctly, and like the Monkey I certainly would like to take the advantage away from shillers by letting manufacturers speak for themselves, so I wish you the best of luck in getting good rules in place, and maybe more importantly getting lots of participation in the right spirit from the vendors.

Lastly, on change. I'm sure we'll have some folks running around like this: .

Folks, it's the people that make the place and not the other way around. Or maybe "it's just the internet" and you might need to take a chill pill. In any case, just relax, take it easy, enjoy the adventure.

Great job, Jude! See you on the other side!

I agree, Tyll. At first glance, I was a bit concerned by the idea of such direct participation by MOTs in the "wild." But provided that the rules are carefully-crafted, I could see it providing for a very cool give and take, which could lead to even better products.

New and Improved Head-Fi design ; Looking forward to critically review it all

Thanks for the heads-up Jude and for you, your admin team and moderators for the collective efforts to continue to improve the Head-Fi experience !

This sounds great to me!

I never like it off the bat when forums I frequent change, but I usually end up liking it soon after. So I'll deal with the issues I first experience and then embrace it like it was missing from my life all this time.

I honestly can't wait. Although the mock-ups look like nice, i can't help but feel we're moving away from a Forum-style board and more into a "recommendation board". I really hope this doesn't take away part of the community spirit here. I love it.

Tom.

This is exciting news indeed. I'm hoping the changes are for the better along with less maintenance time for the mods and Jude and it should be quite interesting in how the new MOT changes will be

Head-fi's newest 100+ Head-fi'er is looking forward to seeing all the new features.

Keep up all the great work.

I like the new UI already, looks cool.

One suggestion Jude, is there a way to add a brief Meets highlight? Like maybe a small section showing the latest 5-10 threads from the Meets forum, or something else to achieve the same thing? As one who finds meets one of the best parts of Head-Fi (er scratch that, the best part), I think drawing more attention to them would be nice - and probably more helpful to newbies so they can instantly see whatever meets are being organized and plan to attend the next one in their area (or beyond). It would also make a nice spot to advertise the next CanJam of course.

Sounds awesome.
