FS - Maverick Audio Tube Magic D1

SOLD---------Maverick Audio Tube Magic D1 DAC. Includes upgraded NOS GE 5670W tube + three additional tubes. This unit has garnered lots of praise and attention for it's good sound quality at a modest price. I have to agree with those reviews. I have been very happy with it in 2 channel set up and as a headphone amp, driving both Sennheiser HD580s and Grado SR60s. I would not be selling it except for the fact that I have disbanded my system due to lack time to listen. Speakers, amp and cans are gone, saved the Maverick for last. More info can be found here: Maverick Audio - Tube Magic D1 DAC + Headphone Amplifier + Tube PreAmp.

This unit has an issue with the "Direct" button. There are some drop outs from channel to channel when it is activated. Sounds like it may be a bad connection, but I never opened it up to check it out. I discussed this with Maverick. This was their response:

Please note, the "Direct button" is only to disable volume control on the front panel. When the button is pressed, the volume output will be at the maximum. If you experience the channel loss when in the "direct mode", you can disable it and turn the volume to 3 o'clock position. It is equal to the "direct mode".

I didn't use the Direct mode, so this was not a major concern to me. No issues whatsoever with sound quality, but I wanted to be very clear about the problem. Unit looks great visually. It has not seen a lot of use.

The additional tubes are a Raytheon halo getter, a Raytheon square getter, and one referred to as a "Reflektor". Sorry, I know very little about tubes, but I purchased these from a trusted seller so I am certain they are all appropriate for the Maverick. I never got around to any tube rolling, so I can't comment on what they may do for sound.

I'm asking $180 shipped (conus) for the D1 w/upgraded tube, + three additional tubes. I will also throw in the bamboo cutting board I was using under the D1. It's the perfect size for this unit, and I think it looks good. Also includes all cables and accessories that came with the D1 (standard power cable, line-in cord, 1/8 to 1/4 headphone converter, usb cable, and Quick Start Guide). PayPal only; no additional fees.

If you have any questions please drop me a PM. Thanks for looking.

I rec'd a couple of questions about the Direct button, so I wanted to clarify. With Direct button not selected the D1 works as it normally would. It controls volume. If you turn volume control to 3 o'clock you get full pass through, and can adjust volume downstream as you wish, same as you would if Direct button was functioning.
