HI there folks

This is my first post here on headfi

thefragger are you looking for a pair of sextett drivers, i might have a pair out of an old

akg k140 that i am renovating.

Does the akg k240 sextetts use the same drivers as the k140 closed back.

I am getting 2 pair of akg k140 capsules nos (rotted foam) which i am keeping but you

are welcome to the old pair for the cost of postage from the uk.

they work ok because i listen to them.

I will test these nos drivers and if they are ok the old ones are yours.

Hi Paddy,

That's a hell of a first post--thanks very much for the offer!! It was mentioned earlier in this thread that the drivers from a 140 should work in my Sextetts.

I really should check in on here more often... I'll fire off a PM to you shortly--thanks so much for the generous offer!

Thanks again,

Philip.

Hi

I have just renovated a pair of sextetts (LP), the foam discs had rotted, the elastics were shot and the damping discs at the back one of them had a pinhole in it.

So i ordered the parts and fitted them and resoldered all the connections using leaded wondersolder (4%silver).

Here is some pictures.

240 1.jpg

Taken apart for cleaning (note rotted foam all over the table), got all gunge out and took damping disc out.

Foam ring, damping ring and elastic ready to be fitted.

Cleaned throughout then fitted with new damping disc and foam disc.

Same for other side and reasembled.

Left the stock cable on, have got a pair of akg k240 mk2 for xmas with a kimber GQ 24cu mini xlr cable, so will be putting the pleather pads on these and the velour ones on the mk2.

White passive radiators.

These were easy to take apart and renovate even for someone like me who is a noob, just take your time and take it easy.

Just watch the white membranes as they look like they could get damaged easy.
