IC: Sennheiser HE60 w/Stax plug

I'm keeping this as an interest check for now since I don't really want to sell them. The HE60 is one of my all time favorite headphone (even beating the HE90 on a good amp) and this is the best set I've ever owned. I've been offered a second set that needs some TLC which I'll only take if this one sells. Half the fun for me is working on the headphones.

What we have here is as close to a new HE60 as you will probably ever find. When I got them they were a mess but I rebuilt them completely with new spare parts from Sennheiser. Almost everything is brand new, including the drivers, but on top of that I did a couple of mods which will allow them to sound even better and last a lot longer. The first one is rather simple, I just wired the phone correctly. Sennheiser has them wired with + on the back stator (i.e. they are inverting) but I wired them up to the Stax standard. The second mod was a bit more radical.

On every HE60 in existence there are two main points of failure, the o-rings to the back of the drivers (they dry out and break which causes the baffle to leak) and the drivers are prone to squeal due to dust particles and other debris getting stuck inside them. This debris is attracted by the electrostatic force and should be kept out by the dust covers but they don't work as intended. To combat this I placed sheets of 0.9um Mylar C (which is thinner then the actual membrane inside the drivers) on both sides of the drivers on top of the current fabric dust covers. I left this mylar loose so you can see the wrinkles and if you blow on it, it will move. This was done intentionally as a taught diaphragm would change the acoustical properties of the drivers.

As a final alteration I put a Stax plug on the cable (the stock plug fitted with a Stax socket is included) with a 5M resistor build in (700V 0.1% metal film unit) so the headphones will work to spec off any Stax Pro bias socket. There is no box or manual included but they will be double boxed.

Feel free to drop me a line if you are interested or if you have any questions. Payment would be via Paypal or wire transfer and I'm willing to ship world wide.
