Wow, good thing that others don't see it either. I'm definitely not good with electronics but they look nothing alike to me. So some new person joins and the first post is the bash Grace and Benchmark? Seriously, whats the point? These two aren't even the highly recommended headamps out there!

I saw this information from korean head-fi forum :: ÇìµåÆùŬ·´ [Headphone Club] ::. OP states that he asked "his" schematic engineer and "engineer" told him that both device shares same/similar opamp and headphone amp component. "Engineer" states that what makes different in sound character is PCB and power supply design and output impedance on headphone out. "Engineer" also states that Grace used better quality internals while benchmark used better pcb design.

I read this thread couple days ago.

imo I don't interpret that to mean they're the same. Ultimately, they're all headphone amps, they're going to share some similarities... different PCB and PSU seem to me to be very big differences already when it comes down to amps. I mean, they're amps, what did you expect?

Oh, I did not see the similarities at first. Yes, they are both full of little thing of majigs and whatit. :-)

You guys are so harsh, instead of making for an interesting discussion you just jump on people.

Anyway, they aren't literally the same clearly just because of different auxiliary components and layout. However it's clear that they are similar designs - two surface mount opamps per channel and I am sure the Grace has another 'blue thing' (resistor? cap? I can't remember) that's not visible underneath that little raised up PCB. The similarity is probably because they both start from the opamp manfacturer recommended circuit and then tweak it a bit. To know whether they are really close or not we'd need to know the exact parts used.
