Does AKG make the 701&702 anymore? I can't find them at harmon audio or AKG's website. If not how do they compare to the current AKG k272-HD(I know they are closed) or the k242-HD?

Yeah my bad I kept picking personal audio with the pic of the k701s and thought that maybe they where discontinued. Thanks even thou I feel a bit dumb now.

One more thing. Is it even fair to pit them together? The thing is I can get a hell of a deal on the k272-HD and k242-HD but not the 701s. If I do get the 701s it be a $105.29 difference for the 272s and a $127.79 on the 242s. So I'm at a loss as I want a open set of headphones.

This. I've seen some people on here say that their k702's sound better than k701s and vice versa, but I'm pretty sure that's just bull.

I meant the 702/01s to the 242s or even the 272s(although there closed sets).

The price difference reflects the SQ difference. The K70x is a reference phone, the K24x and the K27x are laid back, so said "fun" phones.
