Raising some funds to upgrade my source, so I'm selling a pair of Vintage Grado RS1 in very good condition. They have a few nicks on the cups due to age.

I believe they are Vintage B since they came with the old box and is purchased by the original owner in February 2001. Have receipt as proof. These do not have serial numbers. These are the dark wood that sounds more mellow and warmer than the newer recent RS1s. The headphones come with 1/4" adapter and new extension cord. Selling it for $SOLD.

Drivers don't appear pinkish to me, but looks like the white silk is there. Care to try taking pictures at different angles to see if you can't make out some pink? Or are they not pink at all from what you can see?

They don't appear pink to me. I don't think drivers back in 2001 or earlier are all pink. These are the original drivers from that year. As for whether the pink color affects sound quality is up to speculation but I can say these sounded warmer and more mellow than newer versions.

Yeah, this looks pretty much identical to the one I have, which is a Classic B.

True - not all were "pink". Mine aren't either and they're in the orig. Grado wood box.

I don't think Classic B have those original grado box & green foam. They come with pizza box after late 2001 to early 2002. Check here for more info http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f4/cla...ogress-420092/

Update: Thanks for the clarification pcf.

I have a pair of NOS vintage B as well which look the same as these (white silk; cardboard box with green foam). They were purchased in May 2001 with no serial number.
I am still not sure if the pink drivers started their life in pink. A headfier mentioned that his white driver turned pink over time. I have two pair of black SR325. They have identical drivers with black silk. One pair are pink. The other pair which the seller claimed to be unplayed, are not pink.
These RS1 look like the real vintage B to me.
Sorry about the discussion in For Sale Thread- just want to clear that.

I have a vintage RS1 and had a buttonless RS1 from 2007 and both started out white when I got them.

The buttonless pair remained white even with use, but my vintage pair is definitely turning pink. I do not know if the drivers are different (the sound are) but the mesh certainly changed over the years (1995/1996-ish vs 2007)

The vintage pair started to turn pink when I put bowls on them. I believe they were used with flats before, with which the ear does not touch the mesh.

Edit: I'm very sorry about the discussion too:/
