Could this perhaps be the start of a new (healthier) relationship between you and me? I say this because I happen to agree with every single word quoted above.

My guess is you and I will never be buddies - I can live with that - but by the same token we cannot always disagree, and this is one of those rare occasions.

BTW, I'm not that far from becoming a Headphoneus Supremus myself. I must admit I detest the term and would gladly pass it along to someone like Voltag3 or one of the 'buddies' - I'm sure they'd appreciate a lot more than I would. My guess is that not so deep down you're not too keen on it, either.

So, maybe we do agree on more than one thing after all.

FYI ALL! US retailer Sound Earphones is now carrying the SM3 on their site. And you can use the coupon code Site15 today to bring them down to $305 + shipping.

Pretty awesome, I'm really considering snatching a pair now... BUT I've been having some great listens on my JH13's recently. Only thing is the fit is still off after two re-impressions/fits :X

Hey @ koonhua buddy. Not for $1000 it won't....lol. But there are some cheaper versions coming out (brass and aluminum I believe). They will be at the $300 - $400 range. If I can verify that the sound is close to the steel version (all three suppose to have the same technology), then I might be interested in the FAD.

I see the price went up a bit ($7).

Hey luco buddy. The FAD = FInal Audio Design. It's the company that manufactured this $1,000 universal IEM called the FA-BA-SS, which James444 owns and says is like a high definition version of the e-Q7. It's a Japanese audio company @ luco. Happy listening.

Hey guys, I'm purchasing the SM3 right now and if someone could recommend me what three tips I should order along with it to try out?

I'm thinking the Shure Olives for sure are on the list...

FAD stands for (in this case) Final Audio Design. It is an Asian headphone company. One of their models (FI-BA-SS) seems to be slightly better than the SM3, FX700, and the EQ-7. See James444 review below.

The problem is the price is over $1000. At that price, it should be competing with top-tier custom IEMs.

Why three? I would wait and try out the silicon bi-flange that is included with the SM3s. If you can get a good seal with them, they should be one of the best tips. There are also custom tips/custom remold, that seem to offer the best SQ. dfkt really likes his Phonak tips. And the Monster Hybrids and Monster Triple Flanges seem to be good to. Also check out the first page of this thread where Average_Joe lists his experiences with tips.

Note: I haven't received my SM3 yet. All of the above information is based off of what I have read in this thread.

I think the first page of this thread is a good place to start for tips. I got one of those sensorcon tips even though I don't have a SM3 :)

Yes it would be ideal if the included silicon bi-flange fit perfectly and sounded great. I am hoping that is the case. However, if it isn't I'd rather order some other tips to try now so I don't have to wait another week or so to try some new tips out.

I settled on Shure Olives Large and JAYS Silicon Rubber Sleeves Large.

AND... Order placed, yay

Hopefully should be getting them next week as Sound Earphones' shipment is coming in this week.

I also own JH-13's so I can do a comparison after having listened to these for a while

Speaking of that...anyone saw Average Joe recently? Did he left to enjoy his SM3 better?

It's been quite a while now I did not see him

The Jays transparent silicon and the olives are the two I ordered from the same site. Happy listening.
