Sydney/Blue Mountain Meet July 11 - Page 5

I will have my laptop (full of metal and Jpop mind you... I'll switch the interface to english so at least people can navigate), ipod nano, ect.

With John, Owen, Jeremy and I having good desktop and portable dacs in various flavours there should be enough sources.

John do you still have the cambridge cd player?

I sold it to DevilofLife’s...

I just scored a new 27" imac, I also have another imac I can set these two up anywhere in the home. I think were going to be ok

i'll have my iriver and probably an SD card transport. my dacs have already been detailed. may even have an IPAD with camera connection kit by then too, unless the iphone v4 supports the same codec, which it appears to; digital out on iphone FTW!!

Great idea.  I wonder if I can do the same with an ipod and 3.5mm to RCA cable?

Well that's because I frequently plug in my iRiver directly into my DAC (via its optical out). I have no idea about ipods - does it have a line out??

Just wondering, do we know of anyone with a kgss or better in Sydney??

I think the meet will allow me to listen to some electrostatic headphones.

Never had a decent chance to listen to them and I won't purchase a system without a listen!

Tom has KGSS PCBs and all the parts including the SAND (rather hard to get) but hes yet to put iron to FR4 as yet and not sure if hes going to..hey tom??

do you have an LOD? and you will need LOD to RCA at the minimum; but seriously, just use what others have, or bring some CDs; a regular ipod connected to some of this gear will absolutely be the bottleneck. many of the best are balanced amps, so your ipod is useless in those cases. bring the tunes and maybe can play from the DVD player or dump them on the HD (temporarily of course ).

I need to work out how i'm going to switch in an analogue line in into my mammoth DAC/AMP. wasnt initially planning to install one and just have digital only, but for meets and stuff it would be handy to have at least one. maybe i'll put a relay on the mini balanced (LEMO) 4 pin that allows it to switch from output from the headamp section to input to the headamp section only outputting through RCA or XLR (3 pin). its not something I will use that often with such an awesome DAC inside and any digital input you could desire.

Nope.  I just use my ipod for public transport and at home my PC is my only music source - for both speakers and headphones.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Yeh, I know plenty of Sydney-siders have pcb and things like that, but nothing ready to go?? :(

Time to order one from qusp!

I have the parts and pcbs.

I'll be ordering the iron this week as well as the case (I hope).

I'll be surprised if it is done.

The required sand is still available in quantity just none of it is from mouser or digikey. Bdent all the way.

T2 is way way off...

Double post of significance given the talk of wanting to hear a kgss...

Some of you may have noticed Spritzer announcing an uber version of the kgss (dubbed kgsshv for high voltage).

It takes the same psu as the T2 (gives a massive swing) and adds in extras the kgss was missing.

PCBs are going to be available and everything from dact stepper to xlrs are board mounted.

Anyone considering a kgss that doesn't already have everything should really look at this first.

With dirt simple heat sinking, it is cheap as chips to build vs something like the t2 and should give it a run for its money performance wise.

Hi John + everyone,

I am a newbie to all this, and was wondering if I'd be welcomed tagging along/asking questions?

To be honest, all this gear you're bringing is fairly intimidating, considering I'm in the market for something like the AD700..!

I would also like to try my hand at a DIY amp one day
