In the above image, at the Y split, there is some rubber like material covering the techflex. What is that called, and where do I get it?

Thanks!

It is heatshrink. It is a rubber like tube that when heat is applied it shrinks. It comes in a 2:1 and a 3:1 shrinking ratio. Any electronic store (ratshack, frys, etc) usally carries it or you can buy online at parconexion, Qables, or any of the other places that sell diy parts.

You can also use "cable pants" from qables, or I think viablue has an expensive solution also.

Of course, I prefer heatshrink. I shrink the ends of each "out" down, then I slide the cover heatshrink over top and heat it up, too. It works well.
