opamp for cmoy

I'm a noob at this and I'm building one. I was thinking the ad8397 or opa2228. I know I mighf need a soic to dip adapter. So how would those work in a cmoy? Would I have a hard time getting it stable or whatever? Oh and my headphones are shure 840s. Thanks

The ad8397 is a difficult opamp to tame. Requires a specially designed PCB. Want a ad8397? Make a Mini3. Want a cmoy? Start with a cmoybb PCB, pop in a OPA2132 or OPA2134 and take it from there.

If you want a layout for a AD8397 cmoy type I have one I made for my self and a friend, you're welcome to the layout and circuit, but the board you'll need to make yourself (I use toner transfer)

NJM4556A will put out 70ma, works at low voltages, and costs less than a dollar.

I like opa2227 and opa2107

2227 is more transparent and dynamic where else 2107 is a warmer mids centric but still have about 80% of the dynamic nature of 2227.

AD823a is very punchy and aggressive, if thats your thang.

I second this

AD8620 is excellent too.

Will the AD823a work in a regular designed cmoy?

Yes, but it's not a great choice due to its low output current.

Oh well how about the opa2227 then? Will that be good with the cmoy?

A OPA2227 will work fine. An assembled cmoybb from jdslabs.com comes with one pre-installed.

computeruler,

opa2227 seems to be a standard opamp for a cmoy. For instance, those built by JDS Labs and biosciencegeek.

But have you had a look at:
