iPod Video front replacement for Ipod Classic front.

I was looking at my Ipod Video. The front is all scratched dirty and had a few stains here and there. The plastic was worn out from wreckless use. I compared it to my Ipod Classic.

Compared to my Ipod Video it looked alot better. The aluminium was free of scratches. Even after all the time without any cover. But now I don't use the Ipod Classic anymore.

Reminding me of the great look of the Ipod Classic.
Will I be able to place the Ipod Classic front on my Ipod Video?

Is there no one here that could answer the question?

iVue Clear Panels if you wanna stay phresh! and no, you can btw. if your not into the phreshness, haha, then look through rapid repair, they have replacement panels, tool kits to remove the faceplate, and youtube vids on how to dissassemble. Purty awesome IMHO.

Just got an e-mail from a Ipod Repair service. They said that it won't fit on my 5G.

I'll just get a cover and an Invisible shield.

But this gives me the final answer. I will order a Faceplant and a new clickwheel. Maybe post pictures of it when I'm done with it.

And thank you for this.

I thought that somewhere in that forum there was a picture or thread where someone did just what you are trying to do but I could not find it.

Ok yesterday evening I ordered the parts. Got a pretty nice deal from a big repair company. And I am expecting them to come in tommorow.

So thanks for the help marv.

I just replaced the front and a battery. I used a Ipod classic front. And put it on a Ipod Video.

This is the 5g/video front. As you can see the parts where the screws are insterted have, close to them, little notches. The classic front panel doesn't have these. So to fit the classic panel onto the video frame you have to file a few things away.

After that it fit great. The only problem I have is the scrollwheel. It's a bit higher than the iPod classic front.

The result:

As you can see the left one is my 5g with 5g front panel. The middle one is the 5g with Classic front panel. And the right one is just the excess front panel.

It worked great for me. And now my Ipod looks great again.

Ps. 50 points for those who know from what my mousepad is.

I thought it was a Starcraft 2 mousemat since the blueness of it looks like a planet but I couldn't find anything matching.

I came across this though so it's alright:
