SOLD: Minty Rockhopper Beta 22 / B22 Single-Ended 3-Board 2-Box

This is a rare chance to get a pro-built B22 at a little more than the cost of the materials. I bought this from the original owner who put about 35 hours total on it. I've added another 200 hours making it just about broken in. This is a 3-board, single-ended B22 set to a gain of 5 which is just about perfect for my HD800's. It is a 2-Box unit with the power supply separate from the amp. It is dead quiet at idle and functions flawlessly. Detail in spades and bass to write home about. The reputation of these amps speaks for itself and is entirely justified - simply one of the best SS headphone amps available, built by a pro. This is built into a large enough case to expand to a 4-board balanced version if you eventually want to run balanced. You could pay Stephen at Rockhopper to do the upgrade, or DIY it if you are capable. It has a single pair of RCA inputs. The gain may also be changed - Stephen does this at no cost other than the cost of shipping to and from Rockhopper. I found the current gain setting is right-on for my 300ohm HD800's - most of my listening is done between 11o'clock and 1o'clock on the dial. With low impedance cans like Grados you would probably be listening a bit lower on the dial. With high-impedance cans (600ohm) you might want to consider changing the gain to 8. This is an outstanding amp in every respect. If you've been looking for one this is a great opportunity to get a professionally built version. As you can see from the pics the face is clean and austere. Nice aluminum cases and the unique, Rockhopper orange LEDs. There's plenty of input here and on other headphone forums on this great amp. Easy peasy - $SOLD packed for armageddon, shipped via insured UPS Ground to CONUS only, and PayPal on my dime. I will negotiate a discount for cash-and-carry via a direct pickup in Seattle ONLY with Headfi'ers with a long track record and or ample positive feedback. Please use my email contact if you want a prompt response. PM's may take longer to hear back from me. Check my 100% + feedback, here and on Audiogon and eBay to assure you of a trouble-free transaction. Please do not use this as a discussion thread. There are plenty of threads on the B22 that you can join in on or ask questions. I will be happy to answer any questions emailed to me.

You can't see me, but I'm drooling right now. If I only had the disposable cash. Free bump.

Drooling is OK if you clean up the puddle afterward Thanks for the bump...your sig file reminds me to mention that this goes great with the HE-5's having plenty of muscle to push'em.

To respond openly to another query - at this time I'm not interested in any trades.

I've received quite a few queries and thought I should answer some of the pertinent questions here.

This is a 3-board unit with an active ground and an o22 power supply in a separate box. It is bone-stock as it came from Rockhopper using the AMB B22 boards. There have been no mods or upgrades. It is currently set up as a single-ended headphone amp only with the third board used as an active ground (best setup for single-ended use - silent as a stone at idle). It has only one source input. It does not have a loop output for use as a preamp. To use a B22 as a speaker amp would ideally require another board at least. Any of this can be upgraded/changed. Stephen, at Rockhopper, can do upgrades at some expense according to the upgrade or you can do it yourself if you are capable, of course. It functions flawlessly as it has for me since I got it.

Hope this helps answer further questions. Thanks for all the interest.
