Grado SR-60/80 Hair Removal

post #1 of 4

After quite a bit of Google searching and tinkering I haven't figured out a reliable way to clean out the hair from behind the fabric mesh on my Grado SR-60s.

People suggest sucking or blowing on the drivers, but there's so much hair inside—there's no hope. Wow. That sounds wrong. (;

The only thing I can think of is removing the transducer from the cups. I just recabled these headphones, so if I need to disassemble further then I'm sure I could. However, I've never seen it done and I don't want to risk it unless I know for sure what to do.

I believe in the preventative measure by not allowing somebody like this wear my cans:

is removing the transducer relatively easy? I need to get a hair out of my grados as well.

There are instructions here http://gilmore2.chem.northwestern.edu/projects/showfile.php?file=grado_prj.htm for a few different ways to remove the transducers.
