Filling/Inlay: Gold or Porcelain? - Page 2

Many years ago I was a sales rep for a chain of dental laboratories ... who make crowns, bridges & etc. This would be one time that the dental labs and the dentists agree ... gold is the superior choice. If you have a full set of molars then the furthest one back would be a wisdom tooth. If you have had your wisdom teeth removed or were not born with them, it is the 2nd molar. The molars would be difficult to see unless your mouth were wide open.

If you ever have the inlay removed be sure to keep it as even dental gold has become quite valuable. Good luck with your restoration!

I'd say keep it.

According to that Colgate link, it lasts a long time and is relatively the same cost as the porcelain. Also, now you have bragging rights to friends, "my molar is worth more than your molar!" and if that tooth ever falls out, you could probably gauge the tooth fairy.

Thanks for the plentiful responses! I will keep the gold, i'm actually glad I don't have to go back to re-inlay a tooth, blech.

Cheers
