I've been a fan of the Junkies since the original Trinity Session. I've seen them in concert a few times and they've never been a disappointment. I'm listening to their new CD, "Renmin Park" - the new material sounds great - definitely check it out! There's also a great acoustic section on their site where you can listen and download a group of just-acoustic songs (my favorite).

Saw their show last night. The venue was a small, former opera house, turned town hall, turned concert hall again, that seats just over two hundred people - very intimate. The overall vibe of this small-town crowd was a bit strange, and very different from the higher-energy NYers of whom I am more accustomed. Despite a slight delay in starting, and a minor "wardrobe malfunction" during, Margo & the boys were all in great form, with a nice mix of old & new music. The cuts from Renmin Park are classic CJs, and sounded great. I picked up the new CD for me, and a t-shirt for my wife. Listening to it now at work, and it is very nice. The concept of "The Nomad Series" should prove interesting.

Although I've been a fan for many, many years, this was actually my first time seeing them in concert - long overdue. I was bit struck by how ultra laid back they all are as performers. They are so introverted performance-wise, it almost seems that having an audience in an afterthought to them. Very little banter, although they did thank their appreciative audience for attending. Occasionally, Margo seems to just mentally go deep into the music before coming back to resume her vocals - cool.

Here's a couple of pics from my cellphone camera, including one of Margo's iconic hanging on her mic:

They plugged the updated website last night too. I did a quick peek this morning, and it looks like there's lots of interesting content. Seems they like how modern tech is giving the artist some control. Again, I will be watching the progression of their travels & the corresponding development of the next three albums in the series.

If they come your way, check them out!

When I saw them, Margo only talked three times.  Once at the end to plug the new web site, once to plug the new album, and once to ask Mr LightMan to stop shining the white spot on her.  Her 50 year old eyes couldn't take it.

It was the first time I saw them as well.
