design picture of LOD for E7!

What features does the USB IN provide? Also, is there a reason for not using a male 3.5mm jack like the other LODs? (I believe you said you didnt have built in line out into e7 because people can fry their headphones) just curious. thanks.

1, The USB in is to install the USB digital signal! when plug in the LOD, the mini usb socket  can plug the USB cable, so the USB signal must install from the DOCK;

2,   With the female socket,  it can satisfy most user cause I don't know hong length should it be. The cable maybe too expensive if the length of the cable is 1m or more ( with PCOCC-A wire) !

Good job on the LOD the design choices are great, I will be wanting one of these ASAP.

The Fiio E7 would be quite versatile if the LOD are out :D

Kinda silly question,

(but i think it should be asked since I think the gain on my E7 on max volume - 60 - is slightly inadequate to my usage).

The picture on E7 LOD design showed "62" volume level, is it just a typo error? Or FiiO is thinking about developing the E7?

Maybe increasing max volume limit,

or making it available to increase the limit in LOD mode?

Just wondering :D

Techincally it would be impossible to further increase the gain without major change in hardware. At max volume, E7 is at the maximum gain possible for the power amp used inside (LO mode is the same). Even if you can add another one or two steps in firmware, you will still face the problem of distortion.

Hmmm yes if FiiO already given the max volume...

Is it possible if FiiO, under the user safety reason, limiting the max volume? :)

and for advance users (usually users who already look-at and chase the enhancement of LO usage),

they open up the limitation...?

edit: Under the LO usage, we will not able to control the volume via E7 anymore right?

It is fully done via external amp's volume control.

So in fact, using a LO will always outputting the max volume of the DAC...? cmiiw

As far as I know (I have discussed with James about volume control before), FiiO did not have any volume limiter on E7. Volume on E7 is done digitally by adjusting the gain of the power amp section, so at max volume you get about the max gain the power amp can do, which is somewhere b/w 3.5 ~ 4.

About LO, I think I have described it wrongly in my previous post: In LO, you get the maximum output from the DAC, not the amp section. So it should not be that same as the max gain on power amp (again, around 3.5~4x), but what defined in the DAC spec (WM8740). Since the amp has around 4x gain in max volume, there is possible that in the DAC LO is only 1/4 the maximum volume (zero gain) when compared to the the headphone-out.

The output level of LO is 1V rms in E7!

BTW, we will start to ship L6 ( for Sansa DAP ) from now, and L7 (for our E7) will be released soon!

The big problem is not every sales agent like to sell our LOD! In fact, hard to make money from it  :) . I will try to connect our sales agent in Australians first!

The retail price is depend on our agents! but is should be the same as L3!

Hmmm got it then :)

Felt a little doubt when I got my E7, plugged in a 64ohm cheapo cans, plugged in Rockboxed Fuze - but got a not-so-improved-gained sound even when I maximized the volume to level 60.

Been looking around but apparently found no reviews focusing on how the sound output will be when it got fed from the line-in...

Thank for your explanation ClieOS, really helpful :)

Got my L3 from local distro (south east asian),

looking forward to grab my L6 and L7 from them too... And maybe also E9! :) :) :)
