First IEMs - Worth splashing?

Hey guys,

So I'm looking for some IEMs. I'm in the UK, but heading to the US at the end of May. I mainly want them for portable listening, but if they're comfortable and good enough I wouldn't mind replacing my cans.

I've been looking at the different types on here but I'm just bouncing between different types and I'm wondering, is it worth splashing out on the cash to get a better set? Right now my eye has been on the IE7 / PFEs. But then I look at the IE8s and wonder if it's worth going for them...

I'm thinking of getting foam tips with whatever I use, or is a mold really worth getting?

I don't listen to any fixed genre. I'll go from avant garde metal to something much softer or even heavier.

So anyone got any recommendations? Price isn't really an object, but I think spending for the very high end would be wasted on me.

Am I on the right track looking at the Phonaks? Or should I got for something higher end?

Cheers for helping my indecision. :/

If you end up wanting some IE8's, mine could be up for sale for a good price in the next few weeks
