Sorry ClieOS, I left you off my reviewer list. Thanks for the input on the DBA bass. I agree, ears work best for me.

Yup. I also vote ears. I also try very hard to describe what I personally hear but ultimately it's the verdict of the person's own ears and sound signature preferences.

All of us have different ears so it's best to judge with our own measurement system. It's the best one we own for our own personal preferences.

Interestingly enough, even dummy head manufacturers can't settle on "standard" ears much less on how to make them. I have been reading about this for the past 3 years or so in an effort to make a nice binaural dummy head. I have even gone as far as to watch an actual human head be dissected little by little and guess what? I have seen 6 different dissections of 6 different human heads and none of them had the same shape ear and interestingly enough as well - none of them have the same shape ear canal. This all affects the way we perceive sound.

I once had a Bose employee at a fancy store in Newport Beach, CA show me some charts about how good their stuff is. Ever since then I have been of the belief that measurements and charts are for people who can't listen.

Much truth here.
Thanks all for addressing the issue (that's why I asked) since the graph 'indicates' one thing, but I hadn't read anything to support it.
Can't wait to get mine. Guess I have a couple more weeks...

Yep, it's the ears.

Just what I needed, another earphone to consider along with the SM3, FX700 and e-Q7.

I thought you lost interest in the e-Q7. Also since you did lose interest in the CK10 I'm surprised you are even considering these. These do sound very similar to the CK10 but have better timbre and don't really have that upper mid spike like the CK10 does at least to my ears as the biggest differences between the two.

Haha... was that supposed to dissuade him?

It wasn't supposed to encourage or discourage buying these. I like these a lot and wait until I get them back so the couple weeks you have to wait to get them is nothing although I haven't exactly missed them since my e-Q7, RE-Zero and Livewires have been doing just fine. I just found it odd that these would be considered when interest in the CK10 was lost a while ago since they do sound very alike except for a couple differences.

I do have to see where DBA-02 would belong after I get them back however. I've been using universals less and less more recently but that should change at the end of the week.

I can't remember how I felt about the e-Q7 but I did rule out the CK10 because it appeared to have tipped-up treble. The DBA-02 has piqued my interest because it looks like an excellent phone for the price, and avoids what I regarded as shortcomings of the CK10 sound signature based on what I've read. Any balanced armature earphone that has clarity, a relatively neutral presentation, and shares a similarity with dynamic earphones in the way it reproduces the timbre of acoustic instruments is of interest to me.

Thanks, its currently out, but Ill try waiting it out till the 5th.

I believe Ethans store is the only place to purchase on the N. American continent (literally).  The ebay seller (gd_audiobase) ships from Russia if I remember right and had 20 available.  There's a few of us on here (me included) who have been waiting the past 3 weeks or so and have it preordered, just to be sure we're included in this shipment.

If you think they're what you want, don't be afraid to preorder.  The owner (Ethan) is a member of the community and regularly posts and keeps us up to date.

My interest was piqued as well.

Im 50% sure on getting new headphones and 80% sure that if I do it will be the DBA's.  What else really competes in the price range?  Only thing Ive come across that seems like it would be IE7's with a great deal (Hopefully no eBay fakes)
