I've played original progressive rock in bar bands throughout the 70's, 80's, and part of the 90's. The last 15 years I've been only playing music (jamming and playing a party or two) with friends. The band days are over for me but I still love and play my bass everyday.
LOL, Wow, you do not look that old. Just by looking at your avatar you seriously look young, it isn't until you click on it and see the pic blown up until you actually notice. I'm still not over it.

That's awesome, i played lead guitar back in high school, wished i would have spend more time on it. I've got a Gibson SG and Line6 Amp in the basement that's collecting dust. Maybe i'll actually pick up and start playing again.

I like handguns a lot, and though I am not sure I would call it a passion. I've also recently been getting into CrossFit. Being an old lady, I'm not out to become buff or competitive, but it's really fun, and I look forward to going almost every morning, which is a bit strange for me. I also just signed up for a couple cooking classes from a local culinary school. I used to love cooking, and haven't gotten into it in awhile, but that interest is starting to come back. Interests come and go and come back again. That's what's nice about life.

I've played drums for more than half my life (I'm 31), and in my 20s that was my biggest passion. Now I have a wife and two little kids, so I don't get to play as much anymore. When they're a bit older I'm definitely going to get back into it. In the meantime I'm slowly writing a progressive rock/metal opera with the intention of recording it binaurally.

Anyone want to play bass on it? atbglenn?

That would be interesting. Unfortunately my only recording equipment is an old Teac S2300 Reel to Reel which has seen better days. I got to get myself a digital recorder, or recording software for my mac.

I love the Gibson SG Standard. My first bass was a 1969 Gibson EB3, which was the SG's twin. My current lineup is a 1979 Kramer DMZ 5000 Aluminum Neck, a 2006 American Deluxe Fender Jazz, and a 1992 American Fender Urge. My Amp is a Gallien-Krueger 700RB-II/210 Combo. It's 320 watts RMS into the 2 10" internal woofers, and 480 watts RMS with an 8 ohm extension cabinet connected. It's bi-amped as well. It has a separate 50 watt amp for the horn tweeter. I also have a small Hartke Kickback which I'm looking to sell.

Besides music gear that I own like guitars, an upright piano, etc... I'm a Francophile. I also enjoy tree climbing too as well as sniffing freshly cleaned socks.

When I was in my 20's, a couple of friends and I would climb towers. The highest one being 350 feet tall. I guess you can say we were stupid kids not thinking of the danger. Would I do that today? Hell no!!

For the best high-entry-level price : performance ratio, I'm pretty sure Line 6 makes a few options for recording guitars/basses via USB - you wouldn't even need to plug into an amp. There are probably some other companies as well.

Have not posted much lately but saw this thread and thought I should post about my lately passion which is Indoor Rowing on my Concept 2 E rowing machine.   I got my own rowing machine June 3 2009 and have been building endurance and strength since.  I first got on the machine in Cardio Rehab in May 2009 and in May I did about 28k but since I have added almost three million meters, joined the Concept 2 web log site, joined a virtual rowing team in "Free Spirits" and posted on several competitive rowing sites (not that I am actually competitive to most posting on those).  Everything with the Concept 2 machine is very motivating.

Recently found the awesomeness of the ukulele, I love them... I should keep my eye off of Ebay, I'd buy so many. Such a fun instrument to play and definitely has the sound that I sway more toward. They're so mobile as well it makes taking it places a doddle and I find myself taking it places all the time, unlike the guitar, I've never had the notion to take that anywhere.

The Uke is my #1 at the moment. Any more uke fans?
