Cowon J3 Impressions Thread - Page 66

Mediaogre, I got my Arrow today!  I'm about to pull the trigger on a 32GB J3 (using some of my Amazon gift cards thanks to generous family members).

Are they physically connected?  If so, did you use Velcro or the Powerstrips that Rob supplies with the Arrow?

Yo, SoulSyde! Right on, man! It's such a sweet PMP, and paired with that Arrow... WOW.

I used two Velcro dots. It's not ideal, but it aint bad. It rocks back and forth a little but I only wanted to commit to two dots until I come up with a neater solution. I'd love to find slightly smaller and lower profile Velcro dots. The Arrow's not always humping the J3 (often at night I separate them and fall asleep to just the J3) so I didn't use the Powerstrip.

The velcro spots are perfect for joining the Arrow and J3 - they're both the same size and shape pretty much,

Order placed. beerchug.gif

It's about time I bought this damn thing.  I started this thread months ago.  biggrin.gif

I also bought the Cowon clear plastic case and plan on attaching the J3 to the Arrow with Velcro.

I also bought an ESI Dr. DAC Nano which will be attached to the Arrow with velcro as well for Netbook listening.  Merry Christmas to me.  L3000.gif

seriously..what took you so long? :P

I'm still enjoying the J3. It was a snow day today and I find the J3 to be perfect to use while shoveling and when I was at the coffee shop for a few hours today. I no longer amp them but they sound great unamped with my customs :)

I've been using the clear plastic case but I might get a ringke case soon as it's $15 shipped so not too bad a price.

I hate that affliction. :D Don't feel bad. Reminds me of when I was portable amp shopping. I had a couple emails out to Rob, some other inquiries to iBasso, and my finger hovering over left+click | Buy now over at Ray Samuel's site.

^^ @ me... back on topic. The J3 is the first PMP I've been able to flawlessly play the gauntlet of brutally demanding concept albums, Between The Buried and Me, Colors, in FLAC, not detect the slightest hitch and not feel guilty about the 900MB it occupies.

i am almost set on ordering an arrow to pair with my incoming J3 - i don't want to miss this party of music L3000.gif

Damn - music is the greatest high/drug.

I don't need to amp the Shures, but there isn't a better way that I've heard to get good bass to the 530s. The Arrow+J3 is a good pairing. Aesthetically, it's hard to beat. The two form factors mate well and if you get a black J3, it makes for a sexy, stealthy, low profile portable setup.

And I just conviced myself that I wouldn't have to look for amps anymore. Thanks a LOT guys! Sigh, back to the iBasso Vs. Arrow Vs. Ray Samuels googling...

I may want to get a J3 as well when the Arrow arrives. lol

Sitting at work, listening to Tracy Chapman. The soundstage of the J3 is messing with my agoraphobia, seriously. It's that good. I've listened to these tracks a zillion times, yet I'm getting chills down my spine listening to them on the J3. I cannot believe that those same flac files sound so much better on this player. eek.gif

Why do you guys use a case with your J3s?  I havent botthered with one so far and had no issues or scratches at all.  The screen seems to be made from alien glass or something, cos I'm not exactly treating the thing with kid gloves.
