Some of us want everyone to know and enjoy great sound plus reward the very best companies and products, others do enjoy the inside knowledge and amazing soundscape that few have a chance to experience>

I mean, without any knowledge of Joe Grado- is it really that lucrative?
The thing is, the design and construction of a headphone is not as research and development heavy as the pharmaceuticals, microprocessor or the aerospace industries. It appears to be more a matter of engineering, and thus a few great engineers can make a big difference. Jerry Harvey, for example, is supposed to be great with crossover, which is why his multi-driver IEMs are so amazing (or I so hear). Also, private companies are not subject to the intense shareholder scrutiny that public companies are - they aren't being hounded for profits every day on the stock market. They can't take a big loss for too long, that would be bankruptcy, but they can operate as long as the boss loves his work and has to enough pay the bills and employees.

That is just damn funny.

BUTT: Now I'm going to be wracking my brain to come up with a name for that new set-up.

I think it's good that there's still one company that doesn't do plastic on the high end cans. HD800, I'm looking at you, with your advanced "polymers".

I think at least the PS1000 should have metal forks. BOO!
