Need help! Need advice for recording a phone interview

Head-fi,

I need some help as I can't think of a solution for recording a phone interview I am conducting with a company for a senior honor thesis paper I am writing. I'm interviewing a company, and because I need to refer to the conversation multiple times, I need to find a way to record the conversation.

I'm using a Blackberry bold 9700...is there anyway I can do such a thing?

Many thanks and cheers!

Get a Google Voice account, and have them call your Google Voice number. Then you can record the convo and it will be accessible online. Just make sure it's OK with them beforehand, since when you press the button to start recording, a voice says "Recording started" or something like that. Plus, it's a legal obligation I think.

There are various tools available for recording Skype calls, if that's an option. I haven't used them myself, so I can't recommend any in particular.

The law varies from state to state. Some places, at least one party must be aware of the recording (that would be you). Other places, all parties must be aware and give permission.

There exist devices where you can plug in a tape recorder via the headphone/microphone out.

Just curious, but how does that work if one party is located in a place where only one is required to be aware, but the other is located where both parties must give consent?

I have no knowledge in recording off the phone but it would seem in this modern age of technolodgy that their should be something readily available.

Use a service like Twilio.
