Like it says, please forgive the indulgence but I had to share this with people who might actually care

I had a custom cabinet made for my Fisher KX-100. The KX-100 is a fine tube integrated amp, and also a truly excellent headphone amp. But I did not like the completely open look:

The pictures don't really show this but the faceplate is a little sharp, and while I love the look of tubes, this amp was not made to have its guts on display.

So a little internet research and I discovered a guy who makes custom cabinets for vintage Fisher gear. And I have to say I am very pleased with the results! Sorry for my poor photography, but here is my new KX-100:

This beauty is now ready for prime time!

Thanks for the indulgence

Pretty interesting how much more vintage it looks to the casual user the moment you put a cabinet on it XD

Very authentic. It looks older, while mint at the same time.

They sure don't make stuff like that anymore. Vintage is wonderful.

That is superb piece of workmanship and the amp looks well tasty.

Thanks guys! I truly appreciate the nice comments - I hoped some of my head-fi friends would fancy her

Really sounds great too - I'm putting together a fun retro-rig - vintage AKG K340's, Denon DP-59L, and the Fisher...lots of fun! The KX-100 has a very nice phono-stage onboard.

That looks amazing! Dad bought a KX-100 after he heard my McIntosh. It is indeed a fine piece of equipment. The main advantage of the Fisher is that the output tubes are self-biasing, whereas I have to adjust my MAC 1500 every other time I power it up. Also, I've heard from a repair person that the phono preamp on the 1500 is inherently flawed so I'd have to use something else if I ever get into vinyl.

Sound-wise I prefer my McIntosh but I did put a massive amount of work into overhauling it and tweaking the sound to my needs.

Yeah the nice thing for me is that this KX-100 had already been overhauled before I got it, so it is in good shape, and a real silent runner too, which is amazing to me, given how many modern tube amps I have heard that hum. Not the Fisher!

In spite of having a large tube collection I did not have any 7868's, so I had to track down a few back-ups, but that wasn't very hard. I'm actually thinking I need to use it with not just headphones, so thinking of finding some vintage speakers to use with is - maybe some Klipsch Heresy's, or something like that
