slight CK2III problem.. no signal

Hey guys, i just finished my Ck2III but am having a slight problem. i did all the initial checks and biased the current to about 14mv and so far everything seemed ok.
However i am unable to hear anything in my headphones, i have double checked the signal connections and they seem to be right. I hook up the jack inputs to the alps pot inputs. then wire the alps outputs to the respective signal inputs on the board correct?
here are some pics to see if maybe i wired something wrong..
Photo Albums - Imgur
the left side on the alps pot pcb is the output, the rt side is input from the jack. ( the little black thing in the upper left of 1st pic is the 3.5mm jack im using for my input currently..)

The signal and ground inputs are wired backward
(check the schematic against the PCB, the left channel input connects to R1, the right channel input connects to R25)

hmm, ok so i checked schematic again and switched the wires around, but still am getting silence. any other suggestions?

Do you want the whole list of suggestions or just the most obvious problem?
Take a look at the headphone jack... do you have the wires soldered to the terminals that are making contact with the plug when it's inserted?

No they were on the other side. such sharp eyes. It probably would have taken me hours to figure it out. The amp appears to be in great working order now.

thanks again Misterx. I always appreciate your timeliness and courtesy when helping out the new guys like myself

What, no aluminim foil for electrostatic shielding?

Seriously, you should congratulate yourself for meeting the challenge.

Also could you identify the transformer by brand and model? TIA

I used the recommended one from amb's ck2III page.

Power transformer

* Amveco 15V+15V dual-secondary 7VA toroidal transformer TE62033
(Digi-Key TE62033-ND)

Thanks for the info, I thought it looked rather small and neat (7VA, 21.5 mm high x 47mm diameter). I recently bought a Triad VPT30-830 which is less costly but somewhat larger (25VA, 32mm high x 71 mm diamater).

I love your case! I need to get some quick-connect (or whatever they're called) things and A crimper, as it's really hard to try and reuse them.

The Amveco transformer is really tiny. I was surprised. How much would it benefit to put some (grounded) aluminum foil (or whatever) between the transformer and the rest?

None. Aluminum does nothing to shield against magnetic fields.

What do they call that stuff?
Mu metal or something along those lines...
