You really don't notice it. The cable is much more flexible and smooth compared to the obnoxious cable of CX 870 that made you ears pumping with each touch.
I agree that weight is not an issue at all.
I feel that I have something in my ears due to the weight from the metal consrtruction but it is not disturbing and they are really comfortable and have perfect fit.

But I disagree that MX 980 have not more cable noise than any other earbuds.
At the moment I have 9 different earbuds here and MX 980 for sure has strongest cable noise from all of them. It is a big difference to some others which are nearly free of cable noise like e.g. my LX 90.
Some others (e.g. K 319) also have cable noise but less then MX 980.
I can handle this issue when I use the provided cable clip but the cable noise is for sure not absent on MX 980.
But I love the sound of my MX 980 so much that I will not stop enjoying them for this reason.

I would say GO FOR IT :-)

Build AND sound are fantastic.
Additional they have good fit and are comfortable for me.
Nothing to complain except the cable noise issue I already mentioned.
But this can be handled.

How forward are they and how much kick does the bass have. Are they a clear set, with good separation?

Any further more detailed reviews on these?
I'm mighty interested in them

JulienS,

see my earbuds review in my sig, there my headphone ranking chart is placed. How would you rate MX980 against some other cans from this chart you are familiar with?

Unfortunately I am NOT familiar with most of them, before MX 980 I only had CX300, CX870 and some old Sony earphones that do not count. Of course, MX980 clearly outperforms them by a large margin. But I sold my CX 870 to a guy who previously had CX300, CX400, CX500 and MX 95 and he was very very impressed with CX 870 and said they were the best of them all. And the distance between CX 870 and MX 980 is like huge, does not even stand comparison.

u should buy one and add a comparison in your very impressive thread I think it would be great, or...is there anyone generous enough to lend their sets to kostalex?

My only concern is that in the bustling city i live in, using the MX 980 which seems to have no isolation whatsoever will prove pointless if i cannot have decent perceived reproduction of music.
Can i assume that it, being and EARBUD, will not have any isolation?

Yes right, due to the fact that MX 980 is an earbud you will have no isolation using it. It is not intend to be used in noisy surroundings.

But I saw in your signature that you own the Sennheiser IE 8.
So my recommendation for your intended use would be to use IE 8 due to present isolation.

But for silent surroundings I would recommend to use MX 980 over IE 8.
I personally like the sound of MX 980 more than sound of IE 8.

Hmmmmm.....
hmmmmmmmmmmmm......
But knowing the shiny glitzy earphone addict that I am.......I may not pass the test and likely cannot return to the West.
Galadriel will not be pleased.

I'm willing to sell mine, as I need some money to buy an old vintage Sony cd player, or would trade them for such a player. pm me if interested.
