SVS subs are UPWARD firing, which seems perfect to me (although SVS is overkill for this application).

There's a lot of bass action that is directional, since subs come in to play well before the unidirectional sub-bass. For 2-channel sources (not 5.1, obviously), once you ignore the advice (that is everywhere) about lack of directionality, and get two subwoofers, and wire for left and right subs, and place them properly, you will never go back to one sub. Placement and tuning is a lot of work. But if you listen to 2-channel music with a lot of imaging and bass (symphonies, opera), the result is magical.

And ditto for keeping the subs on while listening thru K1000s. Magic Magic Magic Magic.
