How does one achieve "bit-perfect"? As for the camera kit, I'm sure it's just facilitating data transfer. Whether it's bit perfect is again probably up to the software supporting the USB device receiving the signal, and perhaps that device itself.
Don't forget the Onkyo ND-S1 (which doesn't work with the iPad, apparently). Much less expensive than the Wadia, though I'm not sure whether it works with iPhones-- just iPods and iPod Touches.
I'm sure it'll be a matter of months before we see some iPad docks with "bit-perfect" digital out, if Apple has made it easier for the iPad.
Now if they'd just update the iPad's iPod app to allow streaming from a networked iTunes library....
