my journey began when I first listened to the sony ericsson w800 walkman phone, I loved the in-ear sound and was the first time I listened to good bass in a portable, so I kept buying mp3 players and earphones searching for the best sound then a friend told me the cowon d2 is one of the best sounding mp3 players and is very recommended here so I visited the site and I'm glad I did.
I cant say I'm fully satisfied yet because I cant audition earphones and headphones and find out whats best for me, but I think i'm happy for now. sorry for my english. |

My first use of headphones was back in the mid 60s. I used a set of Pioneer closed cans in conjunction with an old "Acetone"(Really!) guitar amp made in Japan(I was in the Navy, we were in port in Japan)and to keep from bugging my shipmates, I did all my guitar practicing with the phones plugged into the phone jack of the amp.
Fast foreward to NOW! In March I rediscovered cans when I bought MS-1s trying to match the sound of my beloved Axiom speakers since with all the kids around the house, getting quality listening time was harder and harder to find!! I used to sit in the sweet spot listening to each instrument doing it's thing and having lots of fun with some of my better CDs. Classical music was my favorite and a real hoot since the speaker system did as good a job with BIG music as it did with rock and country. The speakers and sub bring orchestras into my home. The phones put me on the stage and into the recording studio!! Phones though, did an even better job in resolving the smaller details that the fireplace in the listening room did a fine job in snuffing out. For rock, near-rock and country plus the ocassional smaller classical pieces, the cans display everything! It's all right there! Exactly how the performers perform it! Another change snuck in on me. Before the cans, my electrical guitar sort of went into the background with my practicing on an amp only rarely. The classical guitar came out and was out for years. With the cans, and more rock CDs being purchased to take advantage of the qualities of my Alessandros' in rock music listening, I find that my dear old Gretsch is calling for more attention again too! Bottom line though. Studying the music in it's most intimate details has begun to be the primary joy of music. Thank you, Alessandro. |
