Hello,
This is my vintage Sony D-335 PCDP. This is widely regarded as one of the best, if not the best vintage Sony PCDPs.
It not only has one of the best "headphone-out" outputs in the industry, but also a stunningly good "line-out" output.
This Sony D-335 PCDP has been taken care of so well that it is absolutely mint, a rarity for this top-of-the-line 1994 PCDP. In fact, I'd go as far to say that this would be a 9.5/10 on the Audiogon scale, with the 0.5/10 compensating for a little dust collected over the years.
I'm including an AC adapter, an original Sony case, an excellent Sony PCDP bag, a line-out adapter, and some excellent vintage Sony earbuds.
Keep in mind that this retailed for $350 in 1994.

Thanks,
Leon

If you have a large collection of CDs, it may simply be easiest to use a PCDP for this purpose. SQ wise, I much prefer my main PCDP rig to even the best of the DAPs I've made use of, though some of the DAPs I've used were decent enough that I didn't find myself displeased (such as some of the iRiver players). Some of it is going to depend, though, on whether you like the sort of base sound of DAPs, as un-EQ'd the good ones more or less sound very similar to one another, with some of the older iPod units being alleged by some to be the best. If you're unhappy with that sort of tonality (as is the case for myself), EQ features and quality will play a part in this comparison as well. I have a D-NE10 that I use occasionally which shares its sound with what you're considering, more or less. I think it's a pretty decent player, though I like what I can get out of some of the iRiver DAPs a bit better in terms of sound. However, I might give the nod to something like the D-335 over both of them...but it's harder to find and was made in 1994.

My D-335 arrived a couple days ago and after connecting it to my baby stax my jaw hit the floor!Very good line out-in fact better than my Marantz Superscope (which is 10 times bigger and heavier and a battery hog too).

Sweet... After adjusting for inflation, the new price of the D-335 would be $350.67. I love mine. I haven't tried any of the rarer models, but it's my favorite of all the PCDPs I've owned. It also has the loudest output at something like 30 mW/channel.
