I've used this kind of stuff between a board and a metal case:

Buy Craft Foam Sheets by Foamies for Less

You can pick it up at the dollar store.

As it is foam, it handles the point bits on the bottom of the board well.

That looks like it would work...and I think I might have some of that already :P Only thing is the added height of it...the caps are close to/barely hitting the top of the tin. Do I need to put some protection there too?

I can get it at the grocery store here in small town America. Every office supply store should have it. In case you're not sure what it is I'm talking about, it's just the heavy paperboard people use for posters and temporary signs. It often comes in neon green and orange as well as white and other sane colors. You know the stuff, I'm sure.

I've had the amp finished for a few days, but I have a question...
The sound seems to change as I move the pot, especially towards the max. When I turn the pot up past around 3 o clock, the mids seem to disappear and the highs get really harsh... Is that normal?

I was inaccurate in my description earlier; the sound is good up until 2-3 o'clock on the knob. After that, the highs get really overpowering and it's painful to listen to...

clipping, too low supply voltage?

or the op amp cannot supply enough current

Okay, well I'm only running one 9V and last I checked, it's at about 8.5V. If I were to try two batteries...how exactly would I hook them up in series?
