What's the logic behind baby on board signs in vehicles?

I'd say so. Personally, I'm a pretty careful driver so I don't do much different when I see the sticker. However, I've been rear-ended three times - so maybe I should get one just to get people to watch out for me (or would that be immoral?).

I guess it means that a Baby's life is more precious than yours which is why people should take extra care hahaha. Being serious though I think the baby on board sign just means to take extra care in driving around that vehicle with a sign because any extra swerving and hard driving can cause discomfort to the baby.

Presumably the owners of these signs feel they are less likely to be rammed by another driver.

I don't know about other people but I try to avoid other cars when I am driving. If it should happen that I am about to crash then one of these signs will not enable me to bend the laws of physics so as to avoid a car which was otherwise unavoidable.

To further confuse the issue, most cars with a 'baby on board' sign do not have a baby on board; I mean, surely having a baby on board is a basic requirement to be able to display a 'baby on board' sign?!

Heh yeah, if there is one rule to life, it's that people will talk about and draw attention to their kids to the point of everyone's complete boredom and apathy.

I think they might make it more dangerous for those people as the drivers around them will be temporarily distracted reading about the presence of said baby on board.

I'm not sure if the question is valid today because I was watching a thing on the VH1 channel a few years ago about fads in the 1980s it addressed this topic. If you do see a baby on board sign then welcome it because it's a rare relic from the 80's. I haven't seen it probably in at least since the early 90s.
