Can you recommend me a good rock and roll band? Along the lines of MC5, Stooges, New York Dolls, T.Rex, Radio Birdman? Thanks in advance!

Try The Sonics. Very similar to MC5 and The Stooges, garage rock at its finest.

Check out Bill Steer's bluesy rock power trio Firebird. Their '09 release "Grand Union" is an instant timewarp to the glory days of Cream, Deep Purple and Humble Pie.

A mention for Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds. A little more melodic than his previous band (The Birthday Party) but still with a Stooges influence.

I started with The Abattoir Blues Tour live album.

Nick Cave rules. Go for something earlier than Abbatoir Blues, though. Maybe "the best of nick cave and the bad seeds" or "Let Love In", or even earlier.

The earlier you go, the closer to The Stooges you get in my experience.

In any case, it's hard to go wrong with Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds.
