Hegel HD10 DAC

As this brand was just recently released on the US market, it would be interesting to hear if any of you has any experience with it? Not just american users of course, but as the market has grown bigger...
It has some good reviews and seems to be extremely good in it's price range ($1200). I'm tempted.

One of my friends just recently bought this. It sure is a good dac!
Here in norway it costs 1350usd, but if you listen to this thing you will hear that it is actually worth more!

I can try to explain the sound: It sounds very detailed (as all hegel components) and the highs go very high. The bass is very tight and controlled, and you can easily hear more nuances in the bass area. The soundstage is great and it is very easy to separate the instruments. The dynamics is also really good.

I am maybe getting one myself, as one guy is selling his used one. I am crossing my fingers

Any internal pics to be had ?

The website description is really vague with little real useful info and a lot of the usual marketing drivel.

24/192 according to the web page

"The HD10 has a high resolution 24 bit / 192 KHz D/A-Converter inside. This makes it able to handle the most advanced music formats available today. We call it Full-HD sound."

Full HD-Sound ? OMG (face palm x 2)

Peete.

Have not seen a inside pic of this dac yet, should be quite interesting...

There are a lot of reviews posted on the hegel site. The biggest hifi magazine in norway "Lyd og bilde" gave it top scores. They even said it outperformed the Benchmark dac1. Not bad...

in the norwegian magazine "lyd og bilde", they write that HD10 uses this
DAC CHIP: http://www.asahi-kasei.co.jp/akm/en/product/ak4115

and that hegel is the first manufacturer to implement this chip
in a mass-produced digital component.
I got this from comment section in one of the reviews.
I also found very small picture from one Russian site

and here is the link to the whole article there - Hegel HD10, îáçîð. Æóðíàë "Stereo & Video", ìàðò 2010 ã.

I'm surprised there hasn't been more discussion around here regarding this DAC. I've read nothing but good things about it elsewhere and a local(trusted) reviewer has just given it a rave review.

Like the design, what design?

Here is link to a review with comparison to Benchmark and Lavry.
