FS: AKG K1000 with possibly damaged right driver

Sad news that I'm posting this one.

I posted the ad below a week or so ago. Since then, I've been listening to the K1000 more and sadly have come to the conclusion that the right driver is most likely damaged.

The right driver (ONLY the right driver) creates a FIZZZZ staticlike sound when playing loud, deep bass notes. It is only a specific range of deep notes, and only at volumes above my normal listening volume. It sounds a lot like a hair is stuck inside where the diaphragm is vibrating on when it extends outwards.

I have taken the right side apart following Alex's tutorial and taken a look. There were no hairs or other dust to be found. The problem remains.

Replacement drivers are still available (I've contacted RW-Soundsystem, in Germany). If you are handy, you could fix this pair and have a wonderful example.

I am asking 750 dollars + paypal + shipping for this K1000. It is in excellent shape cosmetically wise and would make a great headphone if you can do the driver replacement yourself, or know someone who can do it for you.

If you think that that is too steep, please send me an offer. However, many many people wanted the headphones and I think that $400 off should make it a valid deal.

Thanks for looking,
Rik

------------

Bought these not long ago for two reasons;
- There was a WTB ad here and I could get a hold of these to possibly help the person looking for a pair.
- To see if I would like to have another pair of K1000's. I've listened to speakers exclusively for a while now and wanted to give headphones another shot.

Both reasons fell through, he wasn't interested in this specific pair and I'll stick to speakers (for now.... though I won't say no to a Float ). Besides that, I want a Canon 5D.

The headphones themselves are in excellent shape. This is the fourth pair that I have had an certainly the best preserved. I received them from their first owner, who bought them locally roughly 10 years ago. He has a small home studio and purchased them for working at night. He preferred his K240 though and the K1000 ended up getting used about 30 times according to him. This shows through in their condition.

The (black) box however shows some damage. I think that the shape of the headphones and accessories makes up for that though.

Feel free to ask any questions either here or through PM. Anyone local is more than welcome to drop by and check them out in person.

Thanks for looking,
Rik

For all, who need some spare parts, try this company in Germany, I bought K1000 and K340 drivers/parts from them, great service, ladys name Evelyn Nagy, mail: enagy@rw-soundsystem.de

If one driver is dead, you need 2 new matched and not one to complete your K1000. Actually you can send your K1000 and they will repair for you, did it as well.
