Well I ordered on today and hope it isn't overkill using my iMac as a source. If it is I might be upgrading the source and go back to good old CD's or re-rip them for higher quality. Generally reviews seemed positive Some of the descriptions in the reviews reminds me of my old Mondial Designs Acurus DIA-100 Integrated amplfier that I found kind of dry sounding. I hope that is not the case, though I loved the integrated amp's build and look.

The PS Audio Headphone Amplifier came today and went right into service with my iMac as the source.  I've only two hours on it, but I can say it certainly was worth the $499.00. I don't know why these are on sale. If you can't spring for a a DAC and headphone amp. this seems to be a solid choice.

It replaces the Total Bithead (which now will ride in my messenger bag). This copy came with an on/off switch on the back and XLR connections. Do this mean it is from an original run? Are there any differences I should be aware of? I've tweaked it with an old Power Punch AC cable, but I'm still waiting for an AudioQuest Cinnamon USB cable to arrive on Monday. Pics to follow this weekend. I'm now toying with adding some Grado 325is Headphones or a Senn. 650. I'm pretty happy with the Ultrasone 2400 which I'm using now. I'll try the B&W P5 tomorrow.

The amp's case is great looking and big compared to the BitHead which I had adhered with Velcro under the table. I need a bigger computer table ;)
