just wonder how much is this unit new or used. also have u compared it to any other dac ?
approx 1500
i'd be surprised if u can find it used...too new
nope, thats why the reviews are not of my opinion
i'm likely to get this dac or W4S dac 2 since theyre the 2 dacs in the 1500 range
or maybe a used bryston dac. about the same price
If you're planning to use the USB input, I would avoid the Sim as it uses a basically worthless 16/48 limited implementation (same for the Bryston). The W4S's asynch 24/192 capable USB will crush it, for sure. Another DAC that goes for around $1500 is the Audio-GD Ref 1, which is definitely worth a look. I've also seen demos of North Star's latest USB DAC32 going for $1500 or so.
I had a friend just sold the simauudio and got a ref 8 instead. from my initial listening, simaudio moon is quite neutral.

I dont think the audio-GD is high rez? dont remember. all i remember is that there was a key feature that was missing from it.
nope, not using usb. currently using hiface (and might upgrade to the newer m2tech interface).
only reason why i'm considering simaudio is that i already use simaudio so it matches the system.
all in all, still waiting for a few months to see how the dac's stack up...theyre all still too new
