Is there a sub-$100 mp3 player with EQ capabilities?

Thread Starter
I'm getting really tired of carrying my hundreds of CDs around. I don't really mind if it's space limited (under 8Gs), but it HAS to have more than a few bands of EQ to tweak, cause I can't spend on decent IEMs right now (I'm already getting my pennies together for HD580s and amp + this portable). I don't mind if its internal amp is stellar either, since I'll only use it outside in the noise/car trips/etc.

Clip+ and rockbox that beast. It has 5 bands stock but if you Rockbox you can get more customization. The Fuze models are great as well.

Great sound and they both cost around 50 bucks at the store (cheaper online).

The Sony E Series, and the S Series, can be had for under $100 as well when on sale - both sound amazing and EQ quite well.

Yep, very good EQ indeed. The Sony's also have a bass boost from 0 to +3. Really gives it that extra umph.

sony and sansa are the way to go for under $100 depending on what's important to you. Checking the FS threads can also give you some good deals.

The 2gb version of the SFLO:2 is only 109$, it has a full EQ and some of the best SQ you can buy in a player.

It also had a MicroSD slot so the fact that this version only has 2Gb of on board storage is not that big a deal.

i think clip+ and rockbox would be the way to go. haven't tried it myself yet, but definitely wanna put the rockbox on it.

The s:flo2 is an amazing DAP for around 100 bucks; I would have recommended it first hand but I assumed that the OP wanted something under that price range. I have the... 8gb model (I think it's around 133) and I LOVE it. Very good SQ.

that depends if the OP wants to wait, spend more money on microSDHC cards and if the OP has windows (I believe it only really works on XP?)

Wow sorry lol; you can only UPGRADE on a XP pc, but you can USE it on an xp/vista whatever pc.
I should really re-read my posts :/

While the official mp4nation site says you can only upgrade on XP I had ZERO problems upgrading from 1.10-->1.20--->2.00 on my vista pc so it can work on Vista but I guess it is not supported.

Is the OP using this "On the GO", or at home? If he/she is gonna be mobile, I'd recommend using one of the other suggestions in this thread. If this is for home usage - get an s:flo2. The battery life on the s:flo2 is 10hrs or less for audio, and isn't suited for mobile usage IMO.

It's not too bad if you are around a power source sometime every other day.
