Camera idiot asking some dumb questions

I have in my hands a Fujifilm FinePix S 5500. I could not find the original manual and I could not find it on the InterWebs either.
Questions:
1) What is AF/MF and what does the different AF modes do?
2) There are four letters on the selector wheel: P, S, A, M. What does each one do and how do I use them?
So much as of now. Thank you!

Autofocus - camera focuses for you. Manual Focus - you focus yourself.

P - program mode - camera sets the exposure settings for you (good for newbies)
S - shutter priority - you choose the shutter speed, the camera chooses the aperture (good for freezing action)
A -aperture priority - you choose the aperture, camera chooses the shutter speed (good for controlling depth of field)
M - manual mode - you choose both shutter speed and aperture (good for experts who want total control)

When in doubt just set to AF and Program mode and you wouldn't have to worry about a thing.

Good luck.

Well, found the manual online, so I'll read through that and experiment with the modes.
Also I lost the adaptor ring for it... seems essential. Contacted Fujifilm Canada, hopefully they'll get me something.
