HiFiMAN HE400
By now I think most of us are familiar with the history behind the HiFiMAN HE-series headphones. What started with a single model has grown into a full...
I've been using them practically non-stop since I got them. They're awesome!
My only complaint is that the bass is a little "muddy" at times, specially in heavier songs. Do you think using the reversed 414 pads will improve this?
the 225 is definitely the sweet spot in the grado lineup, especially used. $150 or less for a great headphone. Throw a set of flats on them, and get that grado slam.
Just trace around a quarter with an exacto-knife on the side of the pad that touches your ears. That was one of the first mods I tried when I first got my sr60s and it clears up the low end pretty well.
IMO the grado line is noticable congested until you reach the 225 or even better an MSpro/RS1.
I personally wouldn't consider the line-up below the 225 as I don't like the colouration or the congestion. I can put up with the colouration on the RS1 because it actually sounds like an audiophile headphone IMO
