Q-tips are very bad to use.
You're much better with drops (as in raindrop size) of new olive oil.

I wonder that's a normal case, or extreme? I can only imagine how different everything would sound afterwords. I want to get that done now.

I'm sure that is an absurdly extreme case

I have had the doctor clean my ears, however, and things sound markedly different. for years I thought I simply had poorer hearing in my right ear - after the cleaning, I was happy to discover both ears were just as sensitive

DEAR GOD!

I use olive oil. Put a few drops in your ear (make sure they go deep enough so that it obscures your hearing), then lay down so that ear is facing up and let it sit for 20 minutes, then depending on how much ear wax you have, either just gently wash the olive oil out (normal earwax), or take a syringe and blast warm water in there (ear wax plugs).

I had 2 enormous plugs in my ears and my hearing was so much better after.
