Was tried of that scratches-by-simply-looking-at-it mirror back. So I grabbed a piece of Scotch Brite and here's what I ended up with.
Futurama FTW
Also, would Brasso do anything to this brushed back?
If you did one, show it off!

Yes, but I'm glad to see your old avatar is back, 3602. Actually, now I notice that it's different. But still good.

Eh... I hate Baidu for doing that...

Pretty cool, man! Psyched for the new season of Futurama?

That looks really good. So is the back less likely to get scratches after being brushed?

EDIT: Wait, is Scotch Brite a sponge? What exactly did you do?

Go to the Scotch Brite site. You should find some sort of a rough, dark green cloth-thing. I brushed the back using a piece of this.
Or, go to your local hardware store and pick up some 800-grit sandpaper.

Looks great, and now I know what to do when I SSD my 5.5G.

make sure to cover the HPO and 30 ports though, otherwise you can short the circuit board with steel lint covering internal parts. iPods aren't watertight, so do be careful as Apple don't cover things like sanding the back of your player.

I'd suggest removing the back cover instead, just to be safe.

I like it and a thumbs up for the quote. I should really start watching that show again, South Park is taking up most of my time lol.

Didn't do that... Saw some dark dust in the holes, just blew into them. Most of the dust went on my hands, anyway.

Please tell me how you did this. I mean it looks awesome. When I get my 5.5g Ipod I will definitely try to create a brushed aluminium look on the back cover.
