When will this finally come out?! Also, what happened to the e7 LoD???  I've been waiting for fiio to release this and I'll be SUPER DISAPPOINTED if its scrapped for the e9 instead.

So when are we receiving the amp????? 

Nice, but it looks a bit thick to me. I think it would look better in black, perhaps with silver/brushed aluminum trim, to match the E7 more. I also think the knob is too big.

im glad to find this fiio section of head-fi forum. hearing that there is L7 in the making just made my day.

when you said L7 is complicated with 2 cables, did you mean something like this?

I saw a mock up in an earlier thread which had the L7 as a Y cable. I really hope it's like the device pictured above.

I wanna get the E9 but I'm hoping it can power DT990/600 and K701 decently...

No. I'd have to max out the Fiio E7 AND add Bass Boost 3 to make it just loud enough, heavily coloring the sound. Not that it sounds bad, but different, and definitely strains the E7. The E5 actually drives them louder than the E7. That's why I want the E9. I don't really dig the K701 for music (I'm more of a bass/treblehead which is why I want the DT990), but I pair them with the Mixamp for gaming, and I and a few others agree that the Mixamp pulling fully game audio amping can power them well. Note: This is ONLY for gaming, and does not sound good for music.

As for the DT990/600, I hear they are easier to drive than the K701, so if my Mixamp can power them for gaming, I'm more than happy with them. I want the E9 mostly to complete the Fiio setup I have. Hopefully it can surprise me and power these two cans decent enough to where I'd wanna use them for more than just gaming. Otherwise, I'd use the E9 for something else.

I'm not really an audiophile which is why I know the E9 should be more than sufficient for my needs. If I can enjoy the K701 with the E5, I imagine I'll be blown away by the E9.

Have you gotten had a hearing check lately? or are you using your "open" K701 in a loud environment? No trolling, just honest health concern. When I use mine, I do so in a quiet room and about 30 is plenty for me.

Do I listen to my K701 in a loud environment? Never. I listen to them ONLY at home. The only headphones I wear outside are my budget IEMs (had RE0s but sold them). Just because I own portable amps you think I use them out? I really bought my E7 as a DAC/AMP for my crappy netbook, which is a major upgrade from the onboard integrated soundcard that it has. I did give my K701 a few listens with the E7, and they sound pretty damn good assuming I use Bass Boost 3 and max out the volume on the E7. It alters the sound of the K701 into a warmer, funner headphone. Not what most people want for the K701, but I didn't get the K701 for music. I got them for gaming with my Mixamp AT HOME, in which they sound better than anything I have ever owned, and I have owned a lot, including DT880/32, DT770 Pros, M50s, AD700, and the list goes on.

I'm not an anal audiophile like a LOT of people on here, so I can enjoy the K701 with my E7 (and soon the E9) however I'd like. I know they'll do way better with a good and pricier amp, but why pay hundreds more for an amp I'm not going to use? Jeeze. Most of my music listening is with my Creative Aurvana Live. I don't like reference sound for music. I like slightly fun and bassy. That being said, I don't bass boost with my E7 with any other headphone. I do appreciate a balanced sound, but usually the headphones I like have their own emphasis in bass and treble, which I prefer.
