Sample rates

I really do not understand this. Could someone explain how this works. Here is the deal. I want a DacMagic and it says it converts to 24/192KHz, but the flac files from B&W Society of Sound Music says they are 24/48KHz. Now will this affect the sound quality any?

It can depending on the quality of the routines it uses to upsample.

The DacMagic will upsample the input signal to 24-bit/192kHz. So if you feed it with 16-bit/44.1kHz it will output 24-bit/192kHz.
If it makes an audible difference I do not know. It most certainly depend on the quality of the circuit (chip, ..) used for this upsampling task.
