I have my iPod Touch 3G for general use. I'm happy with that. With the summer season approaching here in Tokyo, Japan, I would like to get back into shape by recommencing my running program. This year I'd like to toy with the Nike+ accessories therefore am contemplating the purchase of an appropriate iPod Nano.
I've googled and searched the forums, but can't find a single comprehensive comparison/review of the iPod Nano 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G. Wikipedia has a nice chart of technical specifications per model, but nothing "hi-fi" related. I know (correct me if I'm wrong) that the 1G to 3G are Wolfson equipped; whereas 4G and later utilize the Cirrus Logic DAC. Specific to the headphone out, does anyone know which of the models is most powerful? Last, could someone provide a summary regarding SQ comparisons?
