Sennheiser HD 600 at a bargain price (UK) - Page 6

May be my memory being rusty but I seem to recall that the HD600s I last borrowed had a 6.5mm default with a 3.5mm adaptor. Is my memory fuzzy or has the design changed?

Maybe they are fake chinese made hp...

I have to go to their depot and collect it myself. Very annoying.

Just checked the senn uk website and it says they come with 3.5/6.35 so I guess its correct

I didn't receive my cans, but I did receive £20 as compensation from Play.com so semi-happy

because they canceled your order or for some other reason? if you dont mind me asking.
because like many other people they cocked up the order. I ordered at 2pm well before alot of other people who have received theirs. I used a credit card which I believe takes longer to verify than a debit thus enabling other people to "jump the queue" for lack of a better expression. I suppose the trick is to pay with debit.

I suspect an IT problem led to the apparent randomness of orders being fulfilled. The stuff Play are telling about authorisation and verification is just made up because they just don't really know themselves

The IT systems will no doubt be hosted by someone else and not really in Play's control -but its still their responsibility.

The application servers that do the processing are probably in some kind of cluster which is load balanced.... so each server in the cluster is running approx the same workload. so different customers (i.e. us) would be going through different servers when ordering/making payment. And possibly one of these servers had a problem with its transactions so they weren't getting posted properly..... meanwhile all the other servers were OK and the customers being serviced by them were fine and got their order fulfilled.

Just a theory.... but shows the importance of end-to-end heartbeating and health checking in IT systems to keep your customers happy.

But then you're not protected in the same way you would be if you used a credit card online. I've had my CC details used fraudulently and was refunded the money - I don't think that happens with debit cards and avoid using them online.

Not true. I just had my debit card info stolen on line and my bank got me my money back within a few days. Of course, I also got a new debit card and cancelled the old one.

Apologies - apparently UK credit and debit cards are offered the same protection in fraud cases. However, they're not if there's a dispute or the retailer goes bust. See Monetos
