Workout Music

What music do you guys listen to when you go to the gym? Post your playlists here!

I'm a fan of calm, soothing music like Classical and Trance when I'm lifting or running (odd isn't it?) instead of the common stereotypical, loud, "pump-up" music that's always being played over and over again at the local gym.

I listen to anything new, no matter what genre if it's new to me I find I listen to the music more which takes my mind of the workout. That said I do a lot better to calmer music, up-pace and I wear myself self out quicker.

I listen to death metal or house. It's hard for me to appreciate and enjoy music after 40 minutes on an erg, so I have to listen to something that just mindlessly entertains me and keeps me on the machine.

Nu-metal maybe? Drowning Pool, Rev Theory and Papa Roach all work pretty well for me if I'm trying to set a new personal best in the gym. Not so good for long cardio workouts...

This is no soothing music, but you should definitely check out The Mark Has Been Made by Nine Inch Nails! It starts kinda gloomy and dithery, but the part which comes at around 2:10 still gives me goosebumps and pushes me (in a good way) every time I listen to it. It's as if Trent Reznor put pure testosterone into this song. Just like You Imagined (which is on the same album) gives me exactly the same feeling. By the way: both songs are instrumental.
