I need neutrality, but I like good controlled bass and soft highs.

I thought about:
sony x1050
nano 5g
nano 3g
nano 2g
iphone 3gs
iphone 3g
ihp-140
ihp-140 + ibasso d10
imod rwa 30gb
ipod video 5.5g
ipod classic 6g
ipod classic 7g
cowon s9
cowon i7
touch 2g
hifiman hm-801(well, its big, its really big, but well, i wanna get best portable SQ!)

What would you go for if money doesnt matter, but i prefer it to be small, to have it in a pocket.

I hope I don't rupture your brain with this suggestion, but... the Fuze is THE most neutral player I've come across. Of course, most are when driving an amp or unloaded recording machine, but the Fuze keeps great FR even with the JH13Pro which is somewhat hard to drive.

Other than that, the iPhone (DAP?) is very good and if amped, the Cowon players. But most of the ones on that list will lose frequency response a little with the phones you mention and the JH13Pro will murder their FR so that it looks like a roller coaster, but will only affect listening by about 10% tops.

If Rockbox isn't released in the next say, 6 months, you can HAVE mine. Without it, it is useless to me.

From your list best source is hifiman, it beats anything in portable league. Than Imod and Ibasso D10 also simply crush other standart players.

Well, Im sure of that, its the best source here, but its too big to put it with my protector in a case worn on my pants belt.
